Following last week's STAAR Writing Test, my students (and admittedly I did too) took a deep sigh of relief that the testing portion of the year (for my class) is behind us, we took a quick "victory lap" around the field, and we visited about what was to come in my class. There are two major units yet to cover. We will be using a novel study of the book, The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, as a vehicle to get us where we need to be by the end of the year.
The two major units to cover are poetry and research, and I believe this novel will be useful in this pursuit. Should your student miss any school while we are reading the novel, they may use THIS LINK to catch up on the reading they missed.
You will notice there is a new tab at the top of mrmein.com, titled "The Westing Game." You can use this link for any resources regarding the novel, including any review material (there is a Kahoot! review for the quiz your students will take tomorrow!).
This week marks the end of the 5th grading period, so make sure all late work is turned in!
