WOD Review

Students and Parents,
Please review the above video for tomorrow's Word of the Day Quiz.  This is the quiz that would have been administered on Friday, however with the incentive and high absenteeism, we would be spending much of Monday making up this test.  You will have another WOD quiz on Friday of this week.  Friday marks the end of the second grading period, so make sure you have turned in all late work!

In regular classes, we have completed our final blog for this semester.  We will be working on another writing project that will encompass the entirety of the third grading period.  Please keep a look out in the next week for details.

Also, progress reports are due!  If we do not receive the signed/returned progress reports by Tuesday, your student will be issued a d-hall.  Progress reports went out on Thursday of last week.

Review 2-2

Hello all!
A very short quiz on Friday- only two words!  This makes this one of the most important quizzes of the grading period because the grades will be either a 100 or a 0!  You will also take your Writing Rule of the Week quiz, using commas when introducing main clauses with adverbial phrases.
Make sure you are continuing to work on your Harris Burdick Story, otherwise the deadline will sneak up on you (Due October 31)!

The End of the Beginning

Good afternoon!
Tomorrow is the end of the first grading period.  It's hard to believe we are 1/6 of the way through this year already.  We will have the last Word of the Day quiz for the grading period tomorrow.  Please watch the video until you have all 22 words down.  Also, we will be taking a Writing Rule of the Week Quiz over using commas with appositives.  These will be the last two grades to be entered for the grading period.  Grades will be posted over the weekend, and report cards will be going home next Thursday.  There is no blog due this weekend.

Come well-prepared tomorrow!

Week 3 Review

Week three has nearly come to a close.  Above, please review for this week's WOW Quiz.  I don't know why, but it kind of went haywire around the 0:15 mark... you'll have to make do, because I recorded the video several times and couldn't figure it out.

Don't forget, you also have a Writing Rule of the Week Quiz over Rule #3: Use a semicolon to combine main clauses without a conjunction.

Lastly, your 'How-to' blog assignment is due Sunday night at midnight.  Grades will be posted for progress report this weekend, and they will be sent home on Thursday of next week.

If your child has not yet brought canned goods, please send them in tomorrow for HUGE in-class incentives!

Week 2 Review

Hello everyone,
We are nearly a third of the way through this first grading period.  Above you will find a video review for this week's Word of the Week Quiz.  Please watch the video over and over until you have mastered all the vocabulary that will be covered in this week's quiz.  The best way to study is pause the video after the definition appears.  After you have selected your answer, press play.  You should eventually be able to go through the entire video without needing to pause.

Also, this week we covered our second Writing Rule of the Week- Use a comma and a conjunction to join two main clauses together.  We reviewed four of the eight parts of speech- noun, verb, adjective, and adverb.  We will cover the last four next week.

It was very nice meeting all the parents at Open House.

Don't forget, your first blog posting is due Sunday night at midnight.

A New Semester- Grading Period 4: Week 2 Review

Welcome back, everyone!
We have been back almost two weeks already, and we have been working hard.  We won't have tons of grades this six weeks because of the time we are spending on our benchmark and midterm exam to review the skills we need to apply when attacking various types of questions.  That means each week's spelling and word of the week quizzes are all the more important.  Review for spelling lesson 17 and this week's word of the week quiz below.

Study study study,
